Video – Sunday’s ART of Truth – "Awakening" – 8-08-21
Hello friends,
Welcome to this weeks Sunday’s ART of Truth. Today, I worked on this beautiful mixed media piece. It is created on a 12 x 12 gallery depth wood panel. I will be giving this piece away randomly to someone who comments on the video either on Facebook, the YouTube video or over on the blog. Just leave a comment about the piece or what your thoughts are on the topic of awakening and what it means to you 😊 free of charge. This is limited to the United States though.
So, onto the construction. This one was tough for me. I had an idea in my head and it didn’t come out that way at all. That is not unusual for me. I persevered even though I did think about abandoning it 😊 I am so glad that I didn’t. I am so pleased with how it turned out. I started with collage background using a digital kit from Dreamzetc called Paris Rose. I love Paris and so this was right up my alley. Even though, you cannot see much of the background through the top layers, the meaning of the papers is still there. I hope that you enjoy the video.
Today, I wanted to write about awakening.
Awakening – “An act of moment of becoming suddenly aware of something. Or, the beginning or rousing of something. Finally, coming into existence or awareness.”
This word fascinated me this week. I am not sure where it came from or why it seemed important until I followed the trail in my own spirit and heart.
We often move through our lives in a very robotic fashion. The ‘to do’ lists must get done. The house must be cleaned and the groceries bought. We move through life in familiar paths, patterns and rhythm. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but is there more? I suppose this follows the same vein as my last blog post on commitment. Commitment is the core strength of our decisions to be, to stay and to hold onto. However, there is more to commitment. There is passion, pure abandon, joy, anticipation etc.
I find the same to be true with this concept of awareness. Sometimes, I meander through my life in a lackadaisical fashion, lacking life, spirit or zest. It’s routine, familiar and sometimes robotic. I want more. I desire to be present all the time. I long for connection and meaning.
What does it take to be awakened?
To fear that something precious is diminishing.
To fear losing something that you have taken for granted.
To feel asleep while watching others be fully awake.
To recognize that there are more important tasks than household chores and errands.
To recognize a hunger for things that bring satisfaction and joy.
Those are the things that are awakening me.
I long to feed and nourish the precious things in my life. I want to see beyond the mundane and participate fully in living, in really living. I desire to be free from oppressive expectations (often, if not always, self-imposed) I want to grow towards people and away from tasks. I long to wake up in the morning with a smile on my face, grateful for a new day with new possibilities. I want to consume joy and spread it around.
Ruts are hard to break. Patterns are sticklers. Awakening is a choice, I believe. It is a choice to wake up in the morning and see the possibilities of a new day. It is a choice to slow down and nourish ourselves and others around us.
I don’t want to be asleep anymore. As in the piece I created, I want to be that woman standing in the window, looking out into life. Presented with hope and embracing possibility.
What can I change today? Who can I bless today? How can I spread love, hope and acceptance? I want that view.
I will practice.
How about you?
Is there something that is deeply unsettling inside of you that you wish to heal?
Do you feel awake? Aware? Engaged?
Do you see possibility or hardship?
Not to say, there isn’t hardship- oh my, there sure is. My desire is to practice seeing and recognizing what I can learn from a hardship. What can I bring to the situation? How can I enable people? How can I ease a burden?
My friends, I hope that this speaks to you. I pray that you are able to identify the things that feel asleep in you. To experience the beginning or arousing of something important in you 😊
Blessings until next time,
Beloved - Reborn
