Video – Sunday’s ART of Truth – The Hope – 12-12-21
Video - https://youtu.be/V5PIPQMGIz4
Hello friends,
Welcome to Sunday’s ART of Truth. Today, I am creating a journal spread in my Arteza Mixed Media journal. This is the second video in this Christmas Series. The first was last week, entitled “The Gift”. This one is “The Hope”.
This project was so much fun and I was inspired as it unfolded. I wanted to talk with you a little bit about the spread and then dive deeper into the inspiration.
As many of you know, the layers used in art really speak to me. There is so much story in the layers of an art piece. I adore them. There is so much beauty in the layers of our lives too, even in the seasons of struggle and difficulty. We are made up of overlapping story that paints a picture of our journey and our experiences. In this project, we have layers created with paper, torn and dark edged. We have focal pieces on the top that speak to the layers underneath. There are layers of paint, some dark and others light and bright. Again, this reminds me of our journey in this world as we move from one version of ourselves to another.
There are seasons of loss and seasons of blinding light. There are times when we feel completely alone and times when we are joined with others. We have winter and we have summer. These seasons aren’t just about weather, are they? They resemble our personal stories of hardship and our celebrations.
In the middle of the winter, it is hard to believe that there is anything beyond it. However, Spring and summer always come.
I have had long spans of winter, just as I know others have. In those times, even though it felt like winter was never going to end, I held on to hope. My grip was sometimes with bloody fingers and tear stained face, but it was all I had. I had to believe that it would end and something better was coming.
As I have shared often, my faith is in Jesus. I know that this is not everyone’s faith system. I love that we have our own personal experiences that we get to share with each other. We come from so many places and our experiences shape our beliefs and our interpretation of such things.
However, I must be true to my heart and be bold and yet humble about my faith 😊
Jesus is my Hope. He was the light, like the lantern on this page. Sometimes, the light was just a speck, but it never went away. Even when I raged and cried, screamed at Him, and didn’t believe while in the midst of my deepest pain, the light never wavered. In the long winter of my life and healing journey, I was not alone.
Jesus came to us through a young girl with a promise to save us. To be with us. To talk with us. To teach us. To love us as no one else can. Mary was young, just a child really. She believed though she didn’t understand. I can imagine, picture and feel her fear. I have known such fear. I have clung to that which I did not understand hoped in what I could not see.
I am so grateful. Grateful for life, love and peace. A promise fulfilled and a future worth living. Thankyou Jesus for coming to us as a wee babe. Thank you for seeking and saving us. Thank you that Winter doesn’t last forever and for being the light that shines in the darkness.
My friends, I share my heart with you. Knowing that many of you might be in the darkest winter you have ever known or could have ever imagined. I want to encourage you. I want you to know that even though I don’t know you, I see you. I see you because I have been there in the cold and dark of winter. Wondering how everything was going to work out.
II pray that you feel a little less alone and a little more known. I send gentleness and encouragement to you. I send hope. There were so many times that others held onto the hope for me, because I didn’t have any room for it. It didn’t fit in the constructs of my life and journey. I hold hope with you.
I believe that when we share little bits of ourselves and allow ourselves to be seen, we lend courage to another. We never know when one ripple from us will amount to a tidal wave of goodness for someone else.
Blessings until next time 😊
You are precious and you are LOVED.
