How to Make a Triple Flip Pocket Tag - Creative Belly Bands - Episode 2

Welcome back, friends!

In Episode 2 of our Creative Belly Band Series, we are building a highly practical and beginner-friendly Triple Flip Pocket Tag featuring a tall vertical belly band closure.

This project combines structure and flexibility in a way that makes journaling easier, not bulkier. The vertical belly band is adhered directly to the journal page, while the tag itself features a seamless image triple flip mechanism on the front and a generous side pocket large enough to hold full-size journaling cards.

What I love most about this design is that the writing elements can be easily removed and written on comfortably — no fighting with bulk inside the journal. The belly band simply holds everything securely in place until you’re ready to explore and write.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

• How to create a tall vertical belly band closure

• How to build a seamless image triple flip

• How to add a functional side pocket to a tag base

• How to keep dimensional design practical and usable

This project is beginner-friendly, expandable, and a beautiful addition to any journal.

I hope it inspires you to rethink how belly bands can become both decorative and structural elements in your creative work.

With gratitude, Cara-Renee
