Removable Flip Journal Card | Functional + Flexible Design
Welcome back friends!
Today’s project sits in that quiet space between structure and creativity… where a little bit of engineering gives you something to hold onto, but still leaves plenty of room to make it your own.
We’re creating a larger journal card base that opens into a flip-out writing space — something simple, but intentional. It gives you room to write, reflect, or hold those thoughts that don’t always have a place directly on the page.
On the back, I’ve added a gusseted pocket for extra storage. It’s one of those details that adds function without overwhelming the design… a place to tuck tags, notes, or small pieces you’re not quite ready to commit.
But what makes this piece especially meaningful is that it isn’t fixed.
By building it as a removable element — held within a pocket instead of glued down — it becomes something you can move, shift, and interact with over time. It doesn’t belong to just one page. It becomes part of the flow of your journal.
This project leans gently into the “engineered” side of creating, but only as a foundation. From there, it can become anything you need it to be… layered and soft with lace and collage, or left clean and simple.
If you’ve been feeling a little stuck, or just need something to guide your hands again, this is a beautiful place to begin.
As always… perfection is not at play in the studio.
Just showing up, creating, and allowing the page to unfold.
