Gathering In | A New Changing of the Seasons Journal

Welcome to a brand-new journal.

This one is called Gathering In.

I wanted this journal to hold the feeling of the changing seasons without becoming a traditional autumn journal. There are no pumpkins here. Instead, I kept coming back to the idea of what it means to gather in—the things we collect, the things we preserve, the things we write down, and the small pieces of life we notice and bring home with us.

For this journal, I’ve brought together several different digital kits filled with muted greens, old papers, botanicals, books, music, cottages, butterflies, bottles, pressed leaves and wonderful little collected things that feel as though they’ve been saved over time.

The botanicals are part of the story, but this isn’t an herbal or apothecary journal. Gathering In is really about the larger idea of collecting and keeping as one season begins to give way to another.

I don’t know exactly where this journal will take us yet—and I rather like that.

There will be interactive pieces, pockets, writing spaces and plenty of layers along the way. But today, we’re beginning at the beginning: with the papers themselves.
