Soft Spring Double Pocket Flip | Interactive Journal Ephemera
Happy Friday friends!
In today’s More Than the Page episode, we are creating a layered interactive pocket piece featuring a large gusseted pocket, a front flip element, and a hidden pocket tucked quietly beneath the flip.
This project focuses on combining structure with softness — creating practical storage and writing space while still allowing the piece to feel delicate, calm, and beautifully layered.
The large gusseted pocket provides room for oversized journaling cards and removable inserts, while the front flip creates an additional interactive layer that conceals a second hidden pocket underneath. I loved building this piece slowly and allowing the soft spring imagery, muted florals, distressed edges, and ribbon details to shape the overall feeling of the project.
There is something especially satisfying about projects that reveal themselves one layer at a time — pockets within pockets, hidden spaces, and quiet little details waiting to be discovered.
This piece is compact enough to tuck into journals while still offering generous writing space and layered interaction.
I hope this inspires you to create interactive pieces that feel both functional and beautiful.
