Layers of Quiet - Transforming a Junk Mail Envelope - Pages in the Making
A humble junk mail envelope finds a completely different life on the pages of Quiet Gatherings.
In this episode of Pages in the Making, I’m working with a coffee-dyed envelope and building it into an interactive pocket and flip. Layers of old papers, soft florals, vintage typography, rub-ons and beautiful translucent vellum slowly bring the entire spread together.
I especially love what happens when the vellum enters the composition. It lets the layers beneath remain part of the story while adding another surface, another texture and another bit of movement to the page.
The envelope itself becomes much more than something to tuck into a journal. It holds ephemera, creates additional writing space and gives me another opportunity to use something ordinary in an unexpected way.
Quiet Gatherings continues to grow one page at a time, and this spread feels beautifully at home among its soft colors, worn edges and collected pieces.
