Layers Upon Layers of Writing Space | Beginner Friendly Journal Idea

There is something I love about a journal page that keeps revealing more space as you move through it.
For this Quiet Gatherings project, I’m creating a full journal spread filled with layers of writing space. The foundation itself gives us room to write, and then I’ve added staggered, torn-edge layers that lift one after another to reveal even more space underneath.
I especially love what the uneven layers do visually. Even before anything is opened, we can see little glimpses of the papers beneath each other. The torn edges keep everything soft and imperfect, while the repetition of the layers gives the entire piece a sense of rhythm.
And there is a LOT of writing space tucked into this one project.
This is also a very approachable project. There are no complicated mechanisms here—just simple construction, beautiful papers and layering used in a way that makes the finished piece feel much more involved than it actually is.
I hope this gives you another idea for creating interactive journal pages that are beautiful to look at but still leave plenty of room for the stories, memories and words that make our journals our own.
