Dreamer - A Mixed Media Play Session - Play in the Margins

Sometimes it's good to set the measuring tools aside and simply play.

In today's Play in the Margins episode, I'm creating a mixed media journal page inspired by a sweet, illustrated girl, layered backgrounds and softly fluttering butterflies. This page came together one layer at a time with collage, stencils, marks, color and plenty of intuition leading the way. The image is from Svilvi’s Art. Linked below. 

There wasn't a detailed plan waiting at the end of this one. It was simply an invitation to enjoy the process and see where the page wanted to go. Those are often the sessions that remind me why I fell in love with creating in the first place.

If you've been hesitant to begin mixed media because you worry about making mistakes, I hope this encourages you to simply begin. Every layer becomes part of the story.
