Play in the Margins | Butterfly Kisses Mixed Media Journal Page
Welcome to the very first Play in the Margins project. Today we're creating a mixed media journal page called Butterfly Kisses using acrylic paint, collage, book pages, texture, and a willingness to simply play.
I chose the name Play in the Margins because so many of these pages begin with old book pages, hidden words, forgotten images, and quiet discoveries tucked between the layers. It's simply an invitation to play without worrying about perfection.
Using book pages, acrylic paint, collage elements, stamping, texture paste, and a little bit of creative curiosity, this page slowly evolved into a bright and cheerful spread filled with hidden details and unexpected discoveries.
One of the things I love most about mixed media is that the layers tell their own story. As colors blend and images emerge, little surprises begin to appear. Butterflies, hidden words, vintage imagery, script writing, circles, texture, and tiny fragments of story peek through the background waiting to be discovered.
This project isn't about getting everything right. It's about allowing yourself permission to explore, experiment, and enjoy the journey as the page slowly tells its own story.
Whether you're brand new to mixed media or simply looking for inspiration to pull out your supplies and create, I hope this page encourages you to spend some time experimenting and seeing where the layers take you.
Thank you so much for spending a little creative time with me today.
