Turning Packaging into Journal Ephemera | Crash Your TRASH
In today’s Crash Your TRASH episode, I’m transforming three simple pieces of discarded packaging into soft vintage-inspired journal ephemera.
Using packaging that would normally be thrown away, I created:
• an over-the-page journal piece
• a layered double tag dangle
• a tall decorative pocket
What I love most about projects like this is that the structure is often already there. The packaging gives us unusual shapes, sturdy bases, and interesting dimensions that naturally lend themselves to junk journaling and layered paper crafting.
Throughout this project, I leaned into soft florals, aged edges, muted vintage tones, and gentle layering to completely change the feel of the original materials. The finished pieces feel delicate and journal-ready while still carrying the foundation of their original form underneath.
Crash Your TRASH projects are always a reminder that creativity does not require expensive supplies. Some of the most beautiful pieces can begin with everyday leftovers sitting on the craft table, packaging from supplies, or bits we almost overlook.
Whether you love interactive journal elements, removable ephemera, layered tucks, or simply finding new ways to use what you already have, I hope this video inspires you to look at packaging differently.
Thank you for spending part of your day creating with me ❤️
