Layered Interactive Belly Band with Horizontal Pocket Design

Happy Monday friends!

In today’s Creative Belly Band Series project, we are creating a beautifully layered interactive journal piece featuring double gusseted horizontal pockets paired with a fully gusseted belly band design.

This project was designed to hold generous writing space while still maintaining a soft, elegant, vintage-inspired feel. The horizontal pockets are constructed with gussets for added dimension and comfortably hold two large cards in each pocket. The center belly band is also gusseted, allowing it to securely hold additional oversized journal cards without creating unnecessary bulk inside the journal.

Throughout the project, I focused on balancing structure and softness — combining functional engineering with calming florals, layered imagery, vintage tones, and interactive elements that invite exploration. The removable cards provide beautiful spaces for journaling, photographs, notes, or tucked-away treasures.
