Highland Love Journal | A Tag-Shaped Pocket with an Accordion Surprise
Hello Friends,
The Highland Love Journal is growing one story at a time, and today we are adding a piece with plenty of room for those stories to be written down.
I started with the familiar shape of a large tag and then gave it a little more to do. Inside is an accordion of tea, stained paper that contains 3 accordion pockets. The outside gives us plenty of opportunity to play with beautiful papers, images, lace and those little details that help tell the story of this journal.
I made several versions because I wanted to see how differently the same basic construction could feel. One became soft and floral, another a little moodier with plaid, and the thistle version brings in those gorgeous deep Highland colors. Each one belongs in the same journal, but each has its own personality.
There is something about that warm, simple paper tucked behind all of the color and imagery that feels just right—and gives the person receiving this journal plenty of room to make the piece her own with words, memories and little pieces gathered along the way.
This Highland Love Journal is being created for a young woman preparing to spend several months living in Scotland while her husband works on an archaeological dig. I want this journal to give her a place for the big adventures, certainly, but also for all those ordinary moments that become part of the story of living somewhere new.
Old stones. New stories. ❤️
