A Folio Full of Quiet Surprises | Quiet Gatherings

Today in Quiet Gatherings, I’m creating a folio that begins as one simple folded piece and just keeps opening.

There are three belly bands and eight journal cards tucked throughout the folio, along with flip-ups, flip-downs and plenty of places for writing. I love how much this piece holds without everything needing to be seen at once. Some of the layers reveal themselves immediately, while others are waiting underneath.

The top flap becomes a special feature of its own with a layered collage made from torn papers, vintage script, embossed texture and a little framed flower. It gives me a beautiful place to slow down and play with some of those small scraps and details I’m always saving.

What I especially love about this folio is the balance between decoration and usable space. There is plenty to look at, but there is also room for photographs, memories, journaling and all of those little things we gather along the way.

I hope this gives you another idea for creating something interactive for your journals while still keeping it soft, useful and full of places to make your own.
